Pulling a tooth (tooth extraction)
There are a number of reasons that may lead to you needing a tooth pulled or otherwise referred to as a tooth extraction. Even permanent adult teeth have to be pulled sometimes to avoid more serious complications.
Common Reasons your tooth may need to be pulled:
Tooth damage due to decay or trauma
A crowded mouth
Risk of infection
Periodontal means “around the tooth”. Periodontal or gum disease attacks the gum and bone around the tooth. Treatments can range from nonsurgical therapies that help control bacterial growth to surgery to restore supportive tissues.
Ask your dentist for a demo of the proper flossing and brushing technique you'll need to use at home.
Repair of Chipped Teeth
In the event that you notice you have a chipped tooth, try not to panic! We have options to fix it and have your teeth looking their best before your family photo session! The enamel on our teeth is hard but can't protect our teeth from chipping in every situation.
You should try to get to your dentist as soon as you can, but if you can't, you should follow the instructions below to avoid causing further damage.
If you are in pain, you should take an over the
counter pain reliever and rinse your mouth with salt water.
If you have a sharp edge on your chipped tooth,
you can cover the point with wax paraffin or sugar free gum so you don’t cut
your cheek or tongue.
If you can’t get to the doctor before your next
meal, try to eat soft foods and avoid biting down on the chipped tooth.
